Barry takes a chance on an engineering career

/ Success Story
Barry Powell has embraced an apprenticeship in the engineering trade.

I started in the engineering trade by chance. I had no intention of going into the trade, but I was offered a job as an apprentice and I’m glad I took it.

I am now working at Wanraine Engineering and studying the Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication Trade at South West TAFE.

I really enjoy the hands-on work that comes with engineering. I enjoy the variety of the work and the different tasks you have to achieve.

I’ve learnt how to weld and how to use problem solving skills to overcome tricky problems.

My plan is to continue in the welding industry. I enjoy the atmosphere where I work and my employers are great.

I love that I get to do something new every day.
