Jakeb's interest in mechanics leads to apprenticeship
When I was young, I always liked playing with things and pulling things apart, but I wanted to learn how to put things back together.
I’m now working at Keppel Prince in Portland and studying the Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical Trade at South West TAFE.
Machining a piece from scratch from a bare piece of material is pretty cool – I love making something useful again.
I’ve learnt a lot of skills at TAFE including general machining, milling, general fitting, and tolerances and equations.
My plans for the future are to keep on learning and to continue to get better at my job.
