Traineeship the perfect step towards a career in tourism
THE skills and experience Ashlea Bentham received during her traineeship has helped her to gain casual employment at Surfside Caravan Park in Warrnambool.
Ashlea studied the Certificate III in Tourism and said it was a great step towards a career in the travel industry.
During her 12-month traineeship, Ashlea helped to run a successful social media campaign designed to increase park patronage and social media followers.
Ashlea said she also worked with Warrnambool City Council on a new television screen promotion in reception at the caravan park.
This included information and greetings in Chinese for the growing Chinese tourism market.
“This course has given me the life skills that I wouldn’t have otherwise received.
“I’m loving my role at Surfside Caravan Park. It’s made me think about further study in the tourism field,” she said.
South West TAFE tourism teacher Katrina Barnes said Ashlea was an outstanding trainee who had become a respected team member at Surfside Caravan Park.
Ashlea was awarded Trainee of the Year at South West TAFE’s graduation and awards ceremony in March, 2019.
